Strong password generator
Create strong, unpredictable passwords by choosing the length and character types. Strength and estimated time to crack are shown instantly.
What makes a strong password?
- Length: length matters more than complexity. Aim for at least 14–16 characters.
- Randomness: birthdays, names or patterns like “London2024!” are easy to guess.
- Uniqueness: a password leaked from one site opens every account where you reused it.
How does this tool work?
Passwords are generated with your browser’s secure random number generator (Web Crypto). Every character type you select appears at least once. Nothing is stored or sent.
How do I remember them?
Don’t try: use a password manager (e.g. Bitwarden, 1Password or your browser’s built-in vault) and remember only its master password.
Frequently asked questions
Are these passwords safe?
Yes. Your browser’s cryptographic random generator is used and passwords are never sent anywhere.
How long should a password be?
For most accounts, 16 characters with all character types is very strong. Turn on two-factor authentication for important accounts too.
What does “exclude look-alikes” do?
It removes characters that look similar, such as I, l, 1, O and 0, which helps if you need to type the password by hand.
